Maple Valley NHS members sponsored a successful American Red Cross Blood Drive on December 4, 2008. The goal for useful units of blood was met. Thanks to everyone for helping us meet our goal. Please plan to help us meet our goal again in December 2009! New member applications will be available from Ms. Johnson beginning December 14, 2009. Students must have a GPA of 3.3 to apply, and meet requirements or leadership and community service. Application deadline dates will be announced at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year. Please continue to work on community service projects to meet the criteria of service for your application. Applications will be reviewed by a faculty committee and the new members will be inducted at a ceremony at the high school. SPECIAL THANKS to all members who served as ushers at the Michigan State University Wharton Center for Performing Arts during the Barbershop Quartet competition in March. Help is needed for the annual Vermontville Syrup Festival activities. See Ms. Johnson for information--this event is always the last weekend of April. Our ongoing project continues as we help tutor during the Tues. and Thurs. after school Tutor Room in the Junior High hall (Mr. Wilkes' Room.) If you need help with an assignment or project please attend, we will help you be successful!! Make plans to invite a grandparent or retired neighbor to the 22nd annual Sr-Youth Forum held at the high school in May. We will enjoy a performance by the Jazz Band and Honors Choir, as well as presentations by our 22 Exchange Student members about their country, experience in the United States and MVHS. They will also present their flag and their national anthem will be played during the ceremony. More details to follow.
